Applications that use the Virtual Wi-Fi technology do not work after you restart a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2:
This problem was fixed when I uninstalled ZoneAlarm. If anyone has the same problem, it might fix it.
just uninstall your wireless adapter..your problem will be solved...
Uninstalling the wireless adapter, then reinstalling the driver for the adapter, reinstated the ability to start the virtual adapter.
However, i now have the same problem as many others - no internet connectivity from the peripheral device. Despite the ubiquity of this problem, it is fascinating that there is no simple/obvious solution. any help appreciated.
happy to say i have fixed my problem:
disable antivirus (i have sophos, but others report same problem with avast and mcafee).
create hosted network
start hosted network
share internet from default adapter (e.g., ethernet or USB modem) to virtual wifi
check internet connectivity, then enable antivirus.
no playing with DHCP/DNS/IP addresses or anything potentially destabilising.
Thanks all off u work fine now :">
