this happens when steam is installed on a external drive and the drive is removed
hit the windows button and r
type regedit and hit enter
navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and delete the folder called valve (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node and delete the folder called valve for 64 bit windows)
navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and delete the folder called valve
perform a restart, dl the steam installer again and install steam

Hey it gives me the error but when i try to perform the fix there is no valve folder.
what to do when there is no valve folder tbh. i r on W7 aswell. any fixes besides this one?
i cleaned every thing about steam i went to the regedit and delete every thing with the name valve, steam and steamapps entry and let me install it again
Error deleting key... this came up when i tried to delete the "valve" folder Help;S
...Odd i tried to delete it.. said i couldn't and so i thought i would try to install it anyway and it worked..
