User's solution

The system's main environment variable had been replaced with one from Roxio. In System Properties\Advanced tab\Environment Variables button\System variables pane, I edited the PATH variable adding C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\system32\WBEM; directly in front of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared.
